Frequently Asked Questions – WP Easy Gallery Pro

When I try to upload a photo to a gallery by clicking the red button “Select image”, the file will not upload. I get this error mesage “Increase post_max_size and upload_max_filesize to 8M” and failed status.

This issue is usually caused by those two values not being set to the same value in your website’s php.ini file. This issue can be solved in one of two ways.

If you have access to this file, change both ‘post_max_size’ and ‘upload_max_filesize’ to 8M (or what ever the value in the error is). One of those vaules is most likely already set to 8M, change the other and you should no longer have any issues.

If you do not have access to this file, you can make an edit to the gallery by following these steps:

In the editor, find this file ‘wp-easy-gallery-pro/admin/php.php‘. At the end of the file find this:

// list of valid extensions, ex. array("jpeg", "xml", "bmp")
$allowedExtensions = array();
// max file size in bytes
$sizeLimit = ini_get('post_max_size') * 1024 * 1024;

$uploader = new qqFileUploader($allowedExtensions, $sizeLimit);
$result = $uploader->handleUpload(‘../../../uploads/’.$_GET[‘Year’].’/’.$_GET[‘Month’].’/’);
// to pass data through iframe you will need to encode all html tags
echo htmlspecialchars(json_encode($result), ENT_NOQUOTES);

and change this line:

$sizeLimit = ini_get('post_max_size') * 1024 * 1024;

to this:

$sizeLimit = 8 * 1024 * 1024;

What is the best way to change the theme styles for Easy Gallery Pro, I see that there are different themes in the CSS file (Dark Square, Facebook, etc.)?

Through the plugin editor in the admin panel, select this file ‘wp-easy-gallery-pro/js/EasyGalleryLoader.js‘. This is the code you should see:

jQuery(".gallery a[rel^='prettyPhoto']").prettyPhoto({counter_separator_label:' of ',theme:'light_rounded',overlay_gallery:true});

You can change the theme by changing the highlighted parameter above in the file and saving. The list of possible themes are: dark_rounded, dark_square, facebook, light_rounded (default), light_square. Theme names correspond to the folders in the ‘images\prettyPhoto’ directory.

I upgraded from the free version and when I try to upload images to a gallery created in the free version it says ‘Directory does not exist and could not be created’.

The problem is that the existing galleries created with the non pro version occasionally do not upload multiple images. Try deleting these galleries and recreating them. This seems to solve the issue.
